Lent begins February 13
February 13 marks the beginning of Lent with Ash Wednesday. Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are days of Fasting and Abstinence. So we need to fast and abstain tomorrow. Fasting is one meal a day and two smaller meals which if added together would not exceed the main meal in quantity. Abstinence (which we are to do every Friday throughout Lent) is defined as not eating meat on Fridays in honor of the Passion of Jesus. Here is a great article from EWTN with more information on our Catholic practices and customs: http://www.ewtn.com/faith/lent/fast.htm
